File sharing and content collaboration services are essential of course to most modern enterprises and over the years, CloudTrust has provided audit, engineering and or remediation services to corporations with a variety of installed EFS platforms. In fact, some of our clients distribute 1000's of sensitive documents per week to their staff and contractors all around the world.
Until only recently companies have typically been required to secure their EFS systems via the specified controls of one compliance framework such as PCI DSS or HIPAA or SSAE 16 (SOC) or ISO 27x or GDPR and occasionally, perhaps, companies would be required to meet the combination of two frameworks simultaneously, such as NIST CMMC combined with HIPAA.
THE CHALLENGE
In 2024, designing a system to meet the control requirements for a single framework is feasible but remarkably short sighted. At CloudTrust our goal is to prepare you for multiple compliance requirements. Controlled Unclassified Information, Protected Health Information, E.U Citizen Privacy (GDPR) and the resultant control requirements are front and center of our architecture decisions.
REAL WORLD USE CASE
As a real-world case study example, one of our clients is required to meet up four control regimes simultaneously: NIST 171 (CMMC), FIPS 140-2, HIPAA and GDPR all while distributing 1000's of protected documents weekly to a workforce distributed throughout the world.
When tasked with designing a solution to meet the real-world example above, we found that FileCloud is about the only one that checked all the boxes within a realistic SMB budget. In fact, that set of simultaneous requirements discussed previously, and our client's obligation to meet that set of requirements (NIST CMMC, GDPR, HIPAA and DFARS) is how we met the folks at FileCloud in the first place.

As of March 2024 CloudTrust, an authorized service provider of FileCloud, will begin licensing, installing, and supporting FileCloud on-prem and self-hosted in the cloud systems to new clients within the United States.
